SnapCal

SnapCal Privacy Policy

Manual logging works without signing in and your logs stay on your iPhone. After you sign in, they sync to your account; iCloud sync is on by default and can be turned off. AI features such as photo recognition require Sign in with Apple and agreeing to this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use on the sign-in screen. Advertising and Apple Health are optional.

1. Local data and use without an account

You can begin logging without signing in. Meal entries, nutrition goals, weight, settings, saved meals, food preferences, water, exercise records and meal-photo thumbnails are stored in the app sandbox by default. Signed-in and signed-out spaces use separate local files. Deleting the app or using Settings → Privacy & Data to delete local data removes that local content. Data already written to Apple Health must be managed in the Health app.

2. Sign in with Apple and cloud sync

If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple provides an identifier used to verify you, plus any name and email you choose to share. SnapCal’s server verifies the credential and creates a SnapCal account. Only a session-token digest is stored on the server; the device token is kept in Keychain. After sign-in, your profile (nickname, avatar, body data), meals, goals, weight, saved meals, food preferences, water, exercise, challenge state and settings can sync to a private account snapshot in SnapCal’s cloud storage. Meal photos are not included in that snapshot.

3. iCloud sync

iCloud sync is on by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings → iCloud Sync. When enabled, meals, weight, goals and settings are saved to your private CloudKit database. Meal photos remain on the device. Turning sync off does not automatically delete an existing CloudKit backup.

4. Photo recognition and other AI features

Only when you start photo or nutrition-label recognition does the app compress the selected image and send it over HTTPS to SnapCal’s server, which passes it to a third-party intelligent recognition service. The original image is not uploaded and scan images are not stored in SnapCal’s cloud storage. Estimating nutrition by name sends the food name you enter; exercise analysis sends the activity name, description, duration and your body weight; weekly reports send a 7-day summary of calories, nutrients and weight change. Recognition results for images with printed text (such as menus, receipts or packages) may be cached to speed up identical scans; the cache contains no images and no account information. Processing by the third-party recognition service is also governed by its own privacy policy. AI features require signing in and agreeing to this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use on the sign-in screen.

5. Community, avatars and automated review

Avatars are compressed, stripped of metadata, re-encoded and stored in SnapCal’s cloud storage. Community features are not currently available in the app; when offered, community publishing is optional. The nickname, title, text, meal photos and menu you choose to publish become visible to other users and are sent to a third-party intelligent recognition service for automated moderation. Community images and avatars are compressed, stripped of metadata, re-encoded and stored in SnapCal’s cloud storage. Posts, comments, likes, saves, follows, reports, blocks, notices and adopted menus are stored in SnapCal’s cloud storage. Moderators can access submitted content and reports. Private meal logs, weight and food preferences are never published automatically.

6. Challenges, referrals and rewards

When you join a signed-in challenge, teammates can see your chosen nickname and check-in progress, not private meal photos, weight or full nutrition logs. Challenge, check-in, referral and reward records are stored in SnapCal’s cloud storage. To prevent duplicate rewards, reward records and an irreversible account-identifier digest may remain after account deletion, without meal logs, weight, avatars or email.

7. Apple Health

Apple Health is off by default and used only after authorization. SnapCal can write dietary energy, protein, carbohydrate, fat and weight, plus workouts and active energy you choose to save. It can read weight, workouts and active energy. Health data imported into SnapCal may become part of the account snapshot if you separately enable account cloud sync or iCloud sync. HealthKit data is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

8. Advertising, analytics and logs

The free plan uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK for banner, interstitial or rewarded ads and Google User Messaging Platform for consent where applicable. Ads start only when Google’s consent state permits ad requests. Google may process device information, IP address, ad interactions and diagnostics under its policies; applicable choices can be managed in the app’s privacy options. SnapCal currently has no separate third-party product analytics or crash-reporting SDK. To understand service quality and cost, the server records statistics for each AI request (country or region, feature, result, duration and app version) without images, food names, weight or account information. The website keeps ordinary server access logs and App Store button-click requests and does not set a website analytics cookie.

9. Subscriptions and payments

SnapCal Pro purchases, renewals, cancellations and refunds are processed by Apple through the App Store. SnapCal uses StoreKit to read whether an entitlement is active and does not receive or store card numbers or complete payment details. Deleting a SnapCal account does not cancel an App Store subscription.

10. Retention and deletion

Local data remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Cloud account data remains until you use Settings → Account → Delete Account. The server then removes the account, sessions, current and historical sync snapshots, community content and associated images. The isolated local file for that account may remain on the device until you delete local data or uninstall. Private menu copies already adopted by another user may remain without the original community photo. Support email is kept until the issue is resolved or you ask us to delete it.

11. Security, transfers and processors

Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Our cloud storage and intelligent recognition service providers, as well as Apple and Google, may process data outside your country or region under their policies and applicable law. We do not sell personal data. Protect your device with a passcode and keep your Apple account secure.

12. Children, medical notice and contact

SnapCal is not directed to children under 13. It is not a medical device; food recognition, calorie and nutrition results are estimates and must not be used for medical decisions. For privacy, data access or deletion questions, email support@capyka.com. If practices materially change, we will update this page and surface an in-app notice where appropriate.
