Frequently asked questions

Tap a question to expand it.

The scan got my meal wrong. What can I do?

Every item on the result screen is editable: tap a food to change its portion and all the numbers recalculate instantly, delete items that do not belong, and add anything missing with Add food.

For better results, shoot in good light, from above, with the whole plate in frame and nothing covering the staple foods. Items marked “estimated” come from the AI rather than the local nutrition table and may be further off.

If the same photo keeps coming out wrong, email it plus the result to support@capyka.com and we will use it to improve the recognition prompt.

What are the limits of the free plan?

The free plan includes 3 AI photo scans per day; once they are used you can scan again the next day.

Manual search logging, quick calorie entry, recent foods, copy-meal, the diary, weight tracking and insights are all unlimited. Pro simply removes the scan limit and unlocks deeper insights, full history and custom targets.

How do I cancel SnapCal Pro?

On iPhone: Settings → your name (Apple Account) → Subscriptions → SnapCal Pro → Cancel Subscription. You can also manage it from your App Store account page.

After cancelling you keep Pro features until the end of the period you already paid for, then the app returns to free-plan limits. Nothing you have logged is deleted.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription — please use the path above.

How do I get a refund?

Apple collects the subscription fee, and Apple also handles refunds under their policies. Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account you purchased with and file a request for the relevant order.

We cannot see your payment details and cannot issue refunds ourselves, but if you need us to explain the circumstances, just write in.

I got a new phone. How do I move my data?

Sign in with the same Apple Account and enable cloud sync to restore the latest successfully synced meal, weight and settings snapshot. Meal photos may remain only on the old device; an iCloud or computer device backup can also migrate local app data.

I don't see my data in Apple Health

Check three things: (1) the Settings → Apple Health switch inside SnapCal is on and permission was granted; (2) the meals were logged after you granted permission (earlier entries are not back-filled); (3) you are looking under Browse → Dietary Energy in the Health app rather than the summary card.

If you tapped “Don’t Allow” before, re-enable write access in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → SnapCal.

How do I delete everything?

Clear local records from Settings → Privacy & Data. If you signed in, also use Delete account to remove the server account and synced data; uninstalling the app alone does not delete server data.

Samples already written to Apple Health stay there; delete them in the Health app or revoke SnapCal’s write access.

Do my photos get uploaded?

Only when you start a scan: that one photo is resized to at most 1280 pixels on the long edge, stripped of metadata such as capture time and location, and sent over HTTPS to a third-party intelligent recognition service to judge what the food is and how much it weighs. We do not store the image once the result returns.

Your original photo is never uploaded, and if you never tap scan, no photo leaves the phone at all.

Details are in section 4 of the privacy policy.

Feature request or bug report

Email us. To help us pin it down quickly, please include:

  • Device model and iOS version (Settings → General → About)
  • App version (shown at the bottom of SnapCal’s settings screen)
  • What you did before the problem and whether it happens every time
  • Screenshots or a screen recording, if convenient

Still stuck?

Email support@capyka.com and we will get back to you. If you are considering leaving an App Store review, please write to us first — we can reply to email, but we cannot contact you through a review.
