Photo logging vs manual logging

No single method fits every meal. Photos are good for a quick start, manual search for known foods and meal copying for repeats. Portion review matters in every method.

When to use a photo

Start with a photo when foods are clearly visible, you do not know the exact name or you need a fast first draft of the meal.

When manual is better

Manual search is more direct when you know the brand, label, ingredient weight or exact dish. Mixed dishes, fried food and heavy sauces also benefit from separate entries.

When to copy a meal

For repeated breakfasts, shakes or training meals, copy a recent meal and update the portions. This reduces typing and keeps the method consistent.
