How to track protein intake

Food weight and protein weight are different. A 100 g portion of chicken is not 100 g of protein; use a reliable food entry or the package label for the nutrient value.

Start with major sources

Log meat, fish, eggs, dairy, legumes and soy foods first, then include protein from grains, nuts and other foods. Prefer per-serving values from the label for packaged products.

Match portions and cooked state

Cooking changes water content, so raw and cooked database entries can differ. Choose an entry that matches how you weighed the food and save portions you use often.

Review the full day

WHO notes that a healthy diet varies with age, activity and individual circumstances. Ask a qualified professional about special targets, pregnancy or health conditions such as kidney disease.
